Millions of Americans every year put braces on their teeth, and my patients are no exception. What was long ago considered something just for teenagers, dental braces have significantly gained in popularity for adults. Part of this surge in popularity is the ease and invisibility of the newest type of teeth straightening system, called Invisalign braces. A dental office that specializes in cosmetic dentistry in Chicago or around the country can help you decide if these revolutionary braces are right for you.
What Are Invisalign Braces?
Invisalign is a custom-made system of clear, plastic teeth aligners. They are completely undetectable so no one knows you’re wearing them but you and your cosmetic dentist.
Your cosmetic dentist will take impressions and photos of your teeth and then a set of aligners will be created, based on your mouth’s exact measurements and the desired results. Your dentist should be able to give you a digital image of what your teeth will look like, all before you actually begin treatment.
Who Benefits From Invisalign Braces
Many adults come in and tell me they aren’t happy with the look of their teeth. Maybe your family couldn’t afford braces when you were younger (treatment time was much longer back then and was more expensive) or your teeth have slowly moved back into their original positions.
Although many people want the look of straight teeth, they are hesitant to put up with a mouth full of traditional metal braces and rubber bands. What they may not know is that metal braces can be a thing of the past with the invention of Invisalign braces.
Over half a million Americans have taken advantage of Invisalign. The system can fix problems such as overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, crossbite, overbite and underbite. Taking advantage of Invisalign braces can help prevent serious dental concerns such as tooth decay and periodontal disease.
How Invisilign Works
Wishing you many bright, smiling days ahead - Dr. Siegel and Caron Siegel
work in a unique way. The plastic trays that your cosmetic dentist creates are designed to be swapped out every few weeks. The aligner trays slowly and painlessly move your teeth into the desired positions. Most people visit their cosmetic dentist about every six weeks for a check-up, but some dentists may require more or less frequent visits. Although it may sound like you’ll spend a lot of time in the dentist’s chair, most appointments are a quick in and out visit to simply check on your progress.
Although the trays are designed to be worn the majority of your days and nights, it is recommended that you take them out when eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. Some people may notice a small lisp the first time they put the trays in, but this typically goes away after just a day or so. Our patients report they don’t even notice the trays after a few days.
Whether you’re visiting our office, another Chicago cosmetic dentist
or one in a different part of the country, it pays to ask about Invisalign braces. You may just end up with the straight teeth you’ve always wanted and no one will ever know.
All the best,
