Smile enhancements don't have to be time-consuming, high-drama to get you feeling, looking better
Think of all the reality TV shows focused on turning "ducklings" into "beautiful swans." There was even a show called The Swan that lasted a couple of seasons. Many other shows featuring extreme transformations ran before and after. Do you remember Extreme Makeover, Dr. 90210, or MTV's I Want a Famous Face?
Many of these programs presented the most drastic of procedures to change participants' outward appearances until they were unrecognizable.
In dentistry, procedures may have included a list seemingly as long as the reality shows on TV today, including: a mix of treatments to correct a "too-gummy" smile, Invisalign or other braces for straightening teeth, numerous dental implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, or bonding.
While full-mouth reconstruction or a smile makeover may still conjure up numerous procedures done on an expedited television production timetable, a smile makeover certainly isn't one thing to everyone. However, the benefits of procedures to enhance your smile can mean the same thing to many people unified in their newfound self-esteem and greater confidence. A new smile may be just the thing to help you go after that promotion or improve your social or dating life, and that's certainly reason enough to smile!
While a smile makeover can be high-drama, it doesn't have to be dramatic in how results are achieved. To this, your smile enhancements aren't your friends' smile enhancements. A treatment plan depends on your personal preferences and "starting point," the condition of your teeth.
You may be unhappy with stains and the shape of a few teeth. In this case, a more desirable shape or spacing may be achieved with veneers or bonding, and brown or yellow teeth may get a brilliant boost with in-office or at-home whitening treatments.
In other cases, deeply stained teeth, or crowding or gaps may cause you to cringe when you look in the mirror. You may be missing some teeth and have poorly shaped or badly worn teeth. Badly damaged teeth may need a crown (and possibly root canal therapy) to return them to function. Teeth with very dark or gray stains may need to be covered with veneers, and any missing teeth might be replaced with dental implants, partial dentures, or bridges.
The possibilities are limitless. Even if you want or need many treatments to restore the look and function of your teeth, you don't have to do them all at once. We aren't shooting a reality TV show under a deadline. Big Smile Dental works with you, your budget, and your time constraints.
We can space out treatments to make them more manageable with your schedule. You can also ask us about flexible options for payment.
Remember: There is no one-size-fits-all way to do a "smile makeover." There is no denying, however, the connection between seemingly large and small smile enhancements and their ability to make you feel like a star. It's a rewarding process for Big Smile Dental to see that transformation. Call 773-772-8400 to schedule an appointment.
