Actual Patient of Dr. Siegel
You may have noticed many crowns on our website, and not just dental crowns but pageant crowns. While you may have suspected a great smile and overall attractiveness go hand-in-hand, through the years, surveys like that conducted by Kelton research for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry have confirmed this notion. They found a person's smile was deemed the most important feature by some 45 percent of respondents, more appealing than a fit body, thick hair, and shapely legs.
The majority of survey respondents were more willing to open up their wallets for a good smile than for fat reducing, spider vein treatment, or wrinkle-smoothing techniques.
Porcelain veneers aren't just for the pageant queens, nor should you fear veneers will outshine the rest of your great features. Big Smile Dental knows you want your teeth to shine in a good way, adding to your appearance and not detracting from it with too white or too bright "celebrity smiles."
Creating a natural look
Big Smile Dental also knows you may be looking for a more dramatic effect courtesy of veneers. Some patients may be after a brighter and improved smile, but don't want a shade too white for their complexion. Still others with very dark or gray stains may find veneers are the only way to obtain white teeth. Veneers can't erase the stains, but they will cover stubborn discoloration. People will look at you, and not be distracted by stains on otherwise lovely teeth.
Dentistry and artistry converge when discussing improvements to color. After teeth have been prepared for veneers, a mold will be taken of your teeth. Veneers are then made to complement existing teeth. By their design, they don't look like someone just slapped ultra-white plastic on top of your teeth to mask imperfections. The porcelain used mimics the translucency and function of tooth enamel.
Veneers can also result in an aesthetically pleasing "after" to the following problems you see in the mirror "before" the procedure:
– Trouble spots, such as a few gaps or slight position problems, may be covered to create the appearance of a more even and uniform smile. Significant misalignment may benefit from Invisalign, another way to achieve a more attractive smile quickly and effectively without wearing a "brace face."
Chipped, broken teeth
– Veneers work on chips and cracks much the same way they do with spacing issues. Fragile teeth may be reinforced and any visible defects camouflaged. Big Smile Dental also offers porcelain crowns for those teeth with bigger structural defects or damage.
– The too-pointy tooth that nags at you or those stubby teeth that make your mouth look "gummy" can be corrected. Veneers may make worn teeth look longer or contour a pointy tooth to a more pleasing, rounded shape. It's kind of like a facelift, only without all the risks, the anesthesia, and the whole "going under the knife" thing.
The veneers "before and after" transformation can be tremendous, while still retaining a natural look and any so-called "imperfections," such as a slight gap between your front teeth that has grown to be a part of your character.
