Yes. BriteSmile will not soften tooth enamel or existing fillings. The BriteSmile treatment was proven safe by independent clinical studies conducted by universities and researchers (e.g. University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey & Forsyth). Hudreds of thousands of patients have whitened their teeth with BriteSmile.
Most patients do not experiance sensitivity with the treatment. About 10% of our patients report a dull ache following the treatment that may last 12 to 24 hours. Advil or Tylenol can help.
BriteSmile may remove stains from crowns, veneers or colored fillings but the original restoration shade will not change. Replacement may be needed to match your new BriteSmile.
The BriteSmile process removes stains that have adhered to teeth over time. It is recommended that the patient keeps to a white and clear food diet for 24 hours after the treatment until the protein pellicle has replenished.
The patient should be happy with their BriteSmile for several years. The BriteSmile treatment is fast and easy with lasting results but it’s up to the patient to maintain their new smile. No whitening procedures are permanent. Foods consumed (coffee, tea, dark soft drinks), smoking, poor dental hygiene, etc. can work against results. BriteSmile offers patients a full line of smile assurance product packages to help maintain their new BriteSmile.
Note: Patients under 14, patients under the legal age of consent without parental consent and women that are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot undergo the BriteSmile treatment.
